It’s My Party is the classic 1963 pop hit by Lesley Gore. This was Gore’s first hit - when she was only 16 - and it was produced by Quincy Jones. (The guy that produced Michael Jackson's Thriller!)
Lesley Gore had a fascinating career, having grown up in a middle class Jewish family in Brooklyn. Her uncle gave a tape of her singing to the president of Mercury Records, who gave the tape to Quincy Jones, who signed her immediately. Judy went on to have several top 10 hits and eventually went on to write songs with her brother Michael Gore for the 1980 film Fame.
It’s My Party is a lot of fun to play, and pretty easy to get together.
